Mythical Monster Mash Up
This activity moves into science and STEM, challenging students to look at their environment and what sort of adaptations helps an animal to survive. Then, they get to make the perfect monster, a mixture of all the best features to survive in a given environment. Because of the size of my class, they were split into five groups of four students, each using a different environment associated with Greece: ocean, caves, plains, forest, and mountains. After making a list of the animals and their features in these regions, they came together as a group to debate and decide on what their final monster would look like.
If your students are not as suited for group work or prefer to work alone, this activity can be done solo as well. It also is perfectly suited to be split between multiple days of activity time.
